Our exploration of Dublin commenced at the break of dawn, as the clock struck 8:00 am. Cruising alongside the tranquil waters of the River Liffey, our journey led us towards the historic grounds of Trinity College Dublin. Along the way, we made a captivating stop to admire the grandeur of St. Patrick's Cathedral, though those snapshots will have to wait for another post.
Continuing our route, we ventured towards the sprawling expanse of Phoenix Park, all while navigating the bustling city streets from the comfort of our sizable tour bus. Adapting to the unique challenge of driving on the left side of the road was an adventure in itself, but with our skilled driver Kieran at the helm, we felt safe and at ease.
Prior to our excursion, our knowledgeable Globus tour guide, Helen, had cautioned us about potential disruptions due to local truck driver protests protesting skyrocketing fuel prices. However, fate seemed to smile upon us, as the protests inadvertently cleared the roads, granting us smooth passage through the city. It was a stroke of luck that allowed us to proceed with our itinerary without any major hiccups.
As our bus parked on Nassau Street, we eagerly embarked on a leisurely stroll to explore the charming shops lining Grafton Street. Despite the initial apprehension caused by the looming protests, we found ourselves immersed in the vibrant pulse of Dublin's city center, free to savor every moment of our Dublin dawn adventure.
